A selected history from the early 1900s through present day.
This site was conceived when I started researching my family's genealogy in
March of 2003. I visited Scarbro / Carlisle / Mossy / Whipple / Oak Hill, WV
twice since 2003 which consisted of searches through county, state, church and
personal records. I have met several residents who have graciously helped jump
start the idea of this web site. Since then, I have found an extended family of
many people whom I have never personally met but I feel close to them because of
our common coal mining bond. These pages are dedicated to the courageous
families and the descendants of the Coal Miners that toiled there in the early
to mid-20th Century. Dennis Chadra, Wheaton, IL (grandson of Frank Hadra a.k.a.
Chadra, and son of John Chadra).
