Picture of Mrs. Mattie Massie, affectionately known as 'Granny' to everyone that has ever met her.  She is a long term resident of Carlisle and is truly the belle of the Carlisle, Whipple, and Scarbro Area. Yesterday, Feb. 8, 2008 she celebrated her 100th birthday. She is as agile and alert as someone half her age and is a virtual history book of the events occurring in our area.
A birthday celebration for her was held last Saturday at the Oak Hill Methodist Community Center (a.k.a. the armory) with somewhere between 215-250 friends attending from all walks of life.  She had three tables covered with scrapbooks and pictures of events and people from our area. It was really interesting to see the articles she had kept through the years.
All of us wish her a continued healthy and happy life
